Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck Hosts Open House on April 24
Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck is hosting an open house for prospective campers and families of children with special needs on April 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parents should bring their children if they are to be a new camper this summer. During the tour, parents will have a chance to meet the year-round staff — camp director, nurse and office manager — and ask questions or address any concerns that they might have.
An Irish Celebration at Patchogue Theatre
The Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts is celebrating the St. Patrick's Day holiday with the biggest names in Irish music: Andy Cooney and Fathom. On March 20, PTPA presents "Andy Cooney's Forever Irish" starring Andy Cooney and featuring Celtic folk artist Kate Purcell. Special guests include Ireland's New "King of Blarney" George Casey and Darrah Carr Dance. On March 18, Fathom (pictured) will perform "Live in the Lobby" with Poor Ol' Seamus Rock & Blues Review.
Eddington: Levy "Misrepresents" Police Proposal
Suffolk County Legislator Jack Eddington (pictured) recently responded to a press release issued by Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy's office on March 9. Eddington emphasized that his proposal to have "sweeping changes" proposed by Police Commissioner Richard Dormer be considered under legislative review is about balance of control, not who gets to be in control. Levy said the proposal would take the power to make decisions regarding the Suffolk County Police Department away from the SCPD and into the hands of the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association (PBA).
Medford Visioning Recommendations Head to Town Board in April
Medford residents reconvened at Medford Firehouse on March 3 to discuss ways to improve their hamlet. Representatives at Cameron Engineering & Associates, Inc. announced that these recommendations will be incorporated into its Medford Downtown & Corridor Revitalization study that will, in turn, be given to the Brookhaven Town Board. The town board is scheduled to receive and review the residents’ input by next month.
